The Seven Factors of Enlightenment – Oldest Buddhist Teachings

The Seven Factors of Enlightenment – Oldest Buddhist Teachings

These Seven factors of Enlightenment are mental attitudes or values that are from the oldest Buddhist teachings to prepare any individual to a desirable state of being mindfully aware of any situation, issue or person at any given moment.

So, let’s briefly…. look!

MINDFULNESS
The awareness and the ability to be fully present; an awareness of the reality of things; it is considered an antidote to delusion to be in a clear and relaxed awareness of what is going on around you, and to focus on any topic, person or issue. A state of no distractions.

INVESTIGATION
Investigation requires that we investigate that Dharma (Universal Truth) for ourselves. We seek our own self-reflection and consideration of reality. As the Buddha said:

“Believe nothing no matter what you read it or who said it, unless it agrees with your common season and observation.”

Buddha is suggesting here that we are not to practice the Dharma simply because he said so, rather, to understand and experience it for ourselves. Buddha wanted us to utilize our minds to the fullest capacity…. not be empty minded!

DILIGENCE (ENERGY)
Diligence means to keep on persevere and not to give up. We live in a world where there are many distractions – such as various technologies for example, or even a lack of understanding or communication. This applies to both a global and personal level of an individual. However, with great persistence, patience and perseverance anything is possible!

CONTENTMENT (JOY)
Joy and gratefulness accompanies useful thinking. It can help you see, believe and help you try something new. You aren’t practicing mindfulness, because you must; you are practicing mindfulness to transform your life; to enhance the quality of your life, to bring more contentment and joy into your life. In turn, this brings more joy, and brings an attitude of gratitude.

TRANQUILITY
Tranquility refers to our willingness to find inner peace. By inner peace, I mean to find relaxation. This represents the ability to manage one’s stress or anxiety. For example, when you take a deep breath of air in, when you are feeling upset, angry, nervous or sad…. you are engaging in tranquility. It is knowing when you need to find or need relaxation that is very important.

CONCENTRATION
Concentration is the ability to focus. When we strength our focus on our ability to concentrate, it gives us real insight into our lives. But, it is something that we must develop and strength over time. Improving our concentration helps us in many ways as focusing us on something we’re studying, new projects at work, improving our listening or verbal skills, etc. Concentration is like a lamp, the stronger it is, the more of the mind we can see.

EQANUIMITY
Equanimity is one of the deepest factors of all, and one of the hardest. It represents facing the difficulties of life, our challenges, our problems, without becoming attached to them. I know, this is a strange concept, yet, most profound! Equanimity is the ability of not allowing or the ability to let your challenges, obstacles or problems become bigger than you. In other words;  when something bad happens, we become stressed or angry about it, we often make a situation worse than it is. If we face a problem with equanimity, then we don’t let a problem become bigger than ourselves.

As human beings, we have a tendency in our lives to make things larger than they are. Equanimity is out ability to resist that. It is all about taking a different perspective of seeing things – our problems and challenges in a different light. With these Seven factors towards Enlightenment, we can learn more about ourselves, and what is truly important in our lives.

Card of the Day: HYDRATION

Card of the Day: HYDRATION

(Courtesy of the Archangel Raphael Healing Oracle Cards by Doreen Virtue)

“Dear Archangel Raphael, thank you for motiving and guiding me to drink more water so that my health, energy, and appetite stay at optimal levels throughout each day.”

As human beings for our overall health and wellness, we are encouraged to stay hydrated and to drink water. Dehydration is the complete opposite of hydration which can cause a range of imbalances and lowers your energy levels. Depending on an individual’s age and personal health, it is ALWAYS advised to consult with your medical physician, and/or other specialists.

Hydration can also be applied to taking a much needed perspective towards your own understanding of selfcare. Have you been taking care of yourself as much as you possibly can? Have you been getting more or less sleep? Have you been eating a healthy, balanced diet? And have you considered to take some time out just for yourself?

Spiritual hydration or spiritual vacation is a term I have created as a way to help lightworkers (and granted we are ALL LIGHTWORKERS!) to take a much needed break from our work. It doesn’t mean that we don’t love our work anymore, nor do we hate it; but this time allows us time to ENERGIZE.

Many people don’t realize that spiritual work is a lot of hard work. It is very draining – physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. We all need to energize ourselves in order to continue with the work that we love and that we want to do. It is indeed a service to help others, and again for a lot of spiritual people –  PAID SERVICES.

As much as we would love to help the world, we would also love to earn a living to support ourselves. It is like any other job, it has it’s ups and downs.  It is like any other job, it has it’s ups and downs. However, I can’t speak for every single, spiritual being or lightworker, or one who has their own self-employed business, but for me, and my Divine purpose, (which is also happens to this wonderful job that I humbly appreciated!) is to enlighten…..to enlighten and enhance the quality of life of all individuals of this planet – to bring more love and light into being.

We all need time to rest and recuperated. Spiritual hydration is just as important as taking a glass of water anytime you need to, when you feel slightly lightheaded, or when you feel tired. How is this any different?

So take this time to hydrate your heart, your soul, and your mind. You are a courageous being with a lot of love and light to shine upon this world.

Additional Meanings of this card: Avoid dehydration substances such as salt, alcohol, caffeine, and dried fruit. Replace soda with water to keep your body hydrated. Switch to higher-quality drinking water. Drink water throughout the day. Exercise (or use a sauna to detoxify through perspiration.

Card of the Day: GRACE & ANTOINETTE

Card of the Day: GRACE & ANTOINETTE

(Courtesy of the Messages from your Angels by Doreen Virtue)

“To help heal this situation, see the other person’s point of view with compassion”.

In life, sometimes we don’t see things the same, and misunderstandings and/or assumptions can be made about other people – family, friends, work associates – even acquaintances. So why does this occur? This is because we are in fact, human beings. We are learning about someone new, everyday – even an individual that we have known for many years.

We all have a moral and value compass of what is the right and wrong thing to do in life. Every single being on this planet – even animals, have such a powerful compass to tell of what motives, opportunities or judgements they and we, shall decide.

We also have an ego. An ego is basically an individual’s sense of self-esteem and self-importance. We all want to be both seen and heard. We all want to be loved and understood. However, we; as human beings may also take each other for granted in some way, shape or form. For example, we may take one another’s personal spiritual energy, both consciously, and/or subconsciously; we may just take someone for granted financially, romantically, mentally, and emotionally.

Nevertheless, not all human beings are like this, but it is something of our behavior and the role of our society; that is and shall need to change. While each individual needs to be accountable for his or her actions, we also need to realize that with great compassion and nonjudgement of other people’s choices in their life, that we truly come from a place of love.

Love and compassion can hold the key to create change of a new beginning for those who seek healing for those who seek to be healers, and those who wish to be healed by the Divine.

Summer & Winter Solstices’

Summer & Winter Solstices’

Stonehenge

Facts about the SUMMER SOLISTICE:

• The earth’s axis of rotation is tilted approximately 23.5 degrees. That means that different parts of earth receive different amount of sunlight through the year, resulting in seasons and solstices.
• While the summer solstice is the longest day of the year, it’s not the hottest. Like an oven, it takes time for it to heat up – just like the Northern Hemisphere summer! While the earth may absorb a lot of light that day, it takes weeks to release that heat — meaning the hottest day of the year occurs later in the summer, in July or August.
• Stonehenge was likely used to mark solstices. While much about the Stonehenge, the famed stone monument located in the United Kingdom, remains a mystery, some scientists believe it was used to mark solstices when it was built about 5,000 years ago.
• The Summer Solstice in the Southern Hemisphere is December 21st or December 22nd.

Midwinter

Facts about the WINTER SOLSTICE:

• The Winter Solstice is noted for countries living in South of the Equator, or in the Southern Hemisphere.
• The winter solstice is the day with the fewest hours of sunlight in the whole year.
• There is a theory that Stonehenge was built in the Winter Solstice (which in the Northern Hemisphere, North of the Equator) but there is still much mystery about Stonehenge.
• The word solstice comes from Latin sol “sun” and sistere which means to “to stand still.”
• The Winter Solstice for the Northern Hemisphere is December 21st.

Native American Wisdom: PAST, PRESENT & FUTURE

Native American Wisdom: PAST, PRESENT & FUTURE

“Often the stillness of the night, when all nature is asleep about me, there comes a gentle rapping at the door of my heart. I open it; and a voice inquires: “Pokagon, what of your people? What will their future be?” My answer is: “Mortal man has not the power to draw aside the veil of the unborn time to tell the future of his race. That gift belongs to the Divine alone. But it is given to him to closely judge the future by the present, and the past.”

Crystal for the Week: AZURITE – EXPANDED AWARENESS

Crystal for the Week: AZURITE – EXPANDED AWARENESS

(Courtesy of The Healing Oracle Crystal Cards by Rachelle Charman

For the week commencing: Monday, June 18, 2018

Crystal Colour: Vibrant Ranges of Blues
Related Chakras associated with this Crystal: Third Eye or Brow Chakra

What is Expanded Awareness or even Consciousness awareness? This means to be awareness of something far greater than ourselves. We need to release the illusion of all knowing to perhaps there is more curiosity of what we don’t know. Even as lightworkers, realists, scientists, teachers, spiritualists, psychics, healers, mediums and every single human being – we aren’t meant to know everything. This is obvious fact of life.

However, what we can know about life, is seeing things from a higher perspective of light and love. Azurite the crystal of both healing, wisdom and opening our third eye, brings our balance into seeing what needs to be seen, from our personal point of view, as well as the perspective of other people or other external factors involved. There isn’t no right or wrong answers either. It is just known and accepting what information you are been shown, by your intuition. It is important to trust it.

Recently, I have personally expanded my awareness about one big taboo topic: death. Many people are fearful about death and dying, and I just had a though: If you had the choice – would you prefer to a life filled with best quality of life, or the best quantity of life? Of course, this question is very difficult to answer, as no one can determine the extent of one’s life….as this is greatly determined by the Divine – and by the individual’s soul.

I don’t mean to upset anyone by this question, but merely to get you thinking: we need to let go of misconceptions around taboo topics. We need to realize that we can, and we should, question the world in which we live in. How can we make things fair in our communities – local, state, national and global? We don’t need to listen to streams of authority either. We all each have a responsibility to expand our awareness of truth and honesty with all of humanity.

There is more than meets the eye when you see a picture or hear a sound. Granted, everyone may interpret this differently, but it is time for a cause of action, and a cause of change.

For each person, their own expanded awareness will be different and unique, but we all need to be open and accepting with these experiences. When you are open to change, you can create change. Transformation is possible with nonjudgement and acceptance of self and of others.

Expanded Awareness allows all of us, to openly talk about change. Humanity deserves to be curious and mindful of everything and there’s nothing wrong in questioning it.

Trust and have hope.

Namaste xxx

So, in brief:

• Connects to and enhances your intuition; creating trust to follow your own guidance
• Expands awareness and allows you to see things from a different perspective, allowing transformation and healing to occur
• Dissolves old belief systems, concepts and misconceptions
• Opens you to vision and insight into your life and of others

Native Wisdom for today: DIVINE LAWS

Native Wisdom for today: DIVINE LAWS

(Courtesy of the Native Wisdom for White Minds: Daily Reflections Inspired by the Native Peoples of the World by Anne Wilson Schaef)

Wisdom for the day of: Monday, June 18, 2018

“The rise of the mana (the power of) Maori is a positive and liberating experience which is part of the International struggle by indigenous populations such as the Maoris, for self-determination, cultural survival and escape from domination.”
– Sydney Moko Mead,
Maori Writer

When we view the planet from the perspective of spiritual laws that rule the Universe, it seems unbelievable that our indigenous populations have to struggle to survive. Yet, this is the world that we have created.

What a small step to it is to see that, just as the planet needs all the many varieties of flora and fauna, we need the voices and wisdom of these Native people.

Only when we see that we need variety for survival that will we will truly begin to live by spiritual laws.

If the Creator created these differences, then they, like we, are governed by spiritual laws.

Card of the Day: TEN OF PENTACLES (Reversed)

Card of the Day: TEN OF PENTACLES (Reversed)

(Courtesy of the Rider-Waite Tarot Cards by A.E Waite & Pamela Coleman Smith)

While this card does suggest loneliness, loss and financial failure – to me this card is a reminder to take a step back and think about yourself for a change. We all need to consider self-care and self-kindness for ourselves first and foremost. Many of us, are parents, guardians or carers of children, parents, nieces, nephews, partners/spouses, pets and other family or friends, and we are always caring for someone else’s needs. For today, even just for a short time, this card is a symbol to care for yourself.

There is an enormous amount of pressure to be adults and to have many responsibilities to function and care for others – bills to pay, financial stability, emotional and mental support, health and well-being of others, we seem to forget in our society, that we are children too, just learning the ropes of how to survive.

Living day-to-today life isn’t easy and granted that one’s life daily living is indeed very different to another’s person’s daily living. We shouldn’t judge another’s circumstances of living. Because who knows…. we could very easy, be in that person’s shoes.

So only come from love, come from peace and remain in a place of understanding of another soul.

Card of the Day: PLANT MEDICINE – TRUTH

Card of the Day: PLANT MEDICINE – TRUTH

(Courtesy of the Shamanic Medicine Oracle Cards by Barbara Meiklejohn-Free & Flavia Kate Peters)

Awaken as I take you deep
My truth reveals you’ve been asleep
You’ll see the world with bright new eyes
Assist those who still live in lies.

What is truth? Truth is both seeking our inner and outer being of ourselves. This also means to authentically live our truth. So, have you been living, speaking and being with and one with your own personal truth? In many Shamanic healing practices worldwide, plant medicine is used to gain and heighten clarity, journey work, and induce visions. Plant medicine has been used for thousands of years. There’s archaeological evidence to suggest that plant medicine, particularly herbs, goes back 60,000 years ago!

However, plant medicine is more than just portions and synthetic pills. These healing and natural remedies were and are still given from the Gods, from Divinity, to discover who you truly are. You are given the choice to accept or reject these remedies and healing properties. Why? Because we are given the choice to seek our own personal journey. And to make our decision to whether we are truly ready to accept our own pathway – whatever pathway that may be, with open arms.

The truth that we are seeking can only been shown to us, is when an individual is ready, and he or she, knows that they are ready. To distinguish between the dream state and the clear state, you are called to decide, a choice, and to live your truth. If you feel brave, courageous and strong – and you do decide to take the plant medicine – know that you can’t go back……for the truth stays with you….to guide you, and awaken you to the Great Spirit, for you then know you will then see our world in a new light. You will be shown to make change. You will be encouraged to seek the bigger picture.

With love and blessings,

Libby xoxo
